After serving 166 days behind bars out of an eight-month sentence, Hulk Hogan's 18-year-old son Nick was released from the Pinellas County Jail Tuesday morning at 12:30 AM in Clearwater, Florida. His sentence got reduced due to good behavior.
Nick, whose last name is Bollea, walked out of jail straight into his sister Brooke's hugging arms. None of his parents, Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea and mom Linda, were in sight. He was taken straight to his mother's house where he was welcomed by "a thumping party, replete with loud music and cops surveying the scene," TMZ.com reported.
In a statement released this morning, Linda Hogan pleaded for her family's privacy and said that they would all reunite to "support Nick’s adjustment back into the public life."
"Nick went into prison as a juvenile and has experienced something that will mold and affect him for the rest of his adult life. His focus is to make a positive difference in this world, media free. Since his future actions will speak louder than any words, there is no need to speak to the media at this time," the statement read.
The "Hogan Knows Best" star was arrested last November on reckless-driving charges stemming from an August 26 crash in which he lost the control of his yellow Toyota Supra which slammed into a palm tree. Two hours after the crash, alcohol was detected in his bloodstream. Nick's friend who was in his passenger seat and not wearing a seat belt, John Graziano, was seriously injured. Graziano, a former marine who served in Iraq, suffered severe brain injuries and will require lifetime medical care.
Nick started his sentence immediately after his May 9th trial when he pleaded "no contest" to felony reckless driving charges. Due to his young age, Nick, who was 17 at the time, was isolated in a maximum-security cell at Pinellas County Jail. He was allowed to join the general population of the jail on his 18th birthday.
In addition to the jail sentence Nick was also placed under five years probation, during which he will serve 500 hours of community service and won't be allowed to drink any alcohol. His driver's license was suspended for the next three years.
Speaking ahead of his release, Brooke Hogan wrote on her MySpace blog that she was very excited to see her little brother again and spoil him with her recipes.
"I'm gonna make him every kind of food you can possibly think of!" Brooke said, "He's been living on bread and potatoes so far, and I know some Mac-n-Cheese is gonna hit the spot!"
