Hulk Hogan’s son, Nick Bollea (a.k.a. Nick Hogan), has been released from a Florida jail after serving five months for felony reckless driving. He pleaded no contest in May to the charge of felony reckless driving, which stemmed from a car crash that seriously injured his best friend, John Garziano. Garziano remains hospitalized and will need medical treatment for the rest of his life.
The 18-year old son of professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan walked out of Pinellas County Jail at 12:30 a.m. and was immediately taken to his family’s Clearwater, Fla., home. Linda Bollea released a statement Tuesday morning asking the media to respect her son’s privacy.
Hogan, now a free man, left the Pinellas County Jail after serving 166 days of an 8-month sentence. He was released early for good behavior.
Garziano’s family sued the Bolleas in March for alleged negligence leading to the crash and has established a foundation to help their son. Clearwater police said Bollea had crashed his 1998 Toyota Supra on Aug. 26 while he was street racing against a silver Dodge Viper driven by a friend. His blood alcohol level was over 0.02 percent and he was driving 69 miles per hour on a busy road.
Nick apologized to Garziano’s family for the crash before he was sentenced, but Garziano’s mother, Debbie said she was not seeking revenge, only justice.
In addition to the jail time, the teen will face 5 years probation, DUI classes and he won’t be able to drink until the end of his probation period.
