IRobot Corporation markets robots that do everything from vacuuming, pool cleaning, gutter cleaning, robots with military applications and protocol robots. Lately however they’ve launched a couple of products that take the dirtiest and hardest jobs off your hand. We’re talking about the new Pet series and Pro series robots. It is currently available only through iRobot’s website but is soon to hit retail stores.
The pet series consists of the Roomba 532 and Roomba 562. The latter has the advantage of a larger battery life than the former, more sets of brushes and a scheduling mode, but both have a larger bin capacity than former models and have special cleaning tools to remove pet hair from brushes. They retail for $349 and $399 respectively.
A step up from that is the Roomba 610 Professional series. This sturdy fellow is designed to clean up the floors in offices and other small businesses where it is likely to be crowded. It’s got two high-capacity sweeper bins which it can interchange on its own, and it features a “Max Mode” where it will keep vacuuming until most of its battery life is spent, whereupon it will return to the charging station. The 610 model is intended, according to iRobot, to replace the need for a professional cleaning service in an office space.
Both models also feature a new, intelligent three-stage cleaning system which makes a difference between say carpets or hardwood floors and automatically adjusts itself to clean whatever surface it’s on more effectively
