Tuesday, two window washers fell while
they were working on a financial district building. According to The New York
Times, authorities said that the two men were cousins Robert Fabrizio, 35, of
Las Vegas, and Garin Fabrizio, 37, of Milford, Pa. A cherry picker holding two
window washers tipped over, killing both men.
Police spokesman Detective John Sweeney informed that the
terrible accident happened early Tuesday, at the World Financial
Center. The men were 40
feet in the air when their cherry picker crashed.
They were working in a crane which tipped over somewhere
around 1 a.m. Robert Fabrizio and Garin Fabrizio were transported to New York Downtown Hospital,
where pronounced dead.
Investigators from the federal Occupational Safety and Heath
Administration and the New York State Department of Labor were at the downtown
site, in order to find out the cause of the crash.
“We're going to be looking at the equipment itself, the
mechanical parts, talking to witnesses,” said Department of Labor spokesman Leo
Rosales, according to the New York Post.
A worker from the site said that the cherry picker had been
serviced last week because “it was leaking fluid but it was fixed.”
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the
accident.
