The Swiss Apple Store described earlier today 802.11n Wi-Fi support for the new, updated Airport Express, but the page has been rolled back to the previous version after it was noticed by several press outlets. Apparently the updated page for the Swiss Apple Store was uploaded earlier than it should. However, in the meantime the US Apple Store now shows the new version priced at $99. It is a clear sign that the updated Airport Express is coming up sometime this week all around the world.
"Apple is leading the way with a broad range of innovative 802.11n base stations for almost any wireless networking need," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, to AppleInsider.
"From the small and portable AirPort Express, to AirPort Extreme for workgroups of up to 50 users and the new Time Capsule for automated backups, Apple customers now have more great ways to extend their wireless networks with 802.11n."
The new version promises up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of 802.11g wireless networks, Apple claims. As with the previous versions, it provides stereo playback of your computer's iTunes library through a set of speakers or amplifier wirelessly. In the box you can also find a CD with AirPort Utility (Mac and Windows), 802.11n Enabler (for Intel Core 2 Duo and Xeon-based Macintosh computers except 17-inch 1.83GHz iMac and Mac mini) and Bonjour for Windows.
