A fresh track from rapper Lil Wayne’s upcoming album hit the Internet, according reports.
The rapper’s first rock single, “Prom Queen,” from his upcoming LP “Rebirth” (due April 7), was supposed to make its debut on Tuesday, January 27 on MySpace. However, the track hit online and radio stations as of yesterday.
For its stage debut, Wayne made a deal with AT&T and will perform “Prom Queen” live for the first time at a concert in San Diego tomorrow (January 28th). The concert will be broadcast live on Mobile Music Facebook pages from 9:40pm (PST).
Described by the artist as something “brand new,” the song is the first taste of Wayne’s experimental rock and roll record which will feature big guitars, rebellious drums and the New Orleans fireman singing instead of rapping.
The album is the follow-up to last year's heavily leaked “Tha Carter III” which went on to be the year's top seller and is approaching double platinum. In December, he earned eight Grammy nominations, more than any other artist. He is scheduled to perform at the 51st Grammy Awards on Feb. 8 on CBS.
The singer’s personal life took a new spin as well when his second child, a healthy baby boy, was born in October.
