In an exclusive video for People.com, the band New Kids on the Block, comprising Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and Jonathan and Jordan Knight, announced they were planning to have a cruise ship concert between May 15 and 18.
The ship will be starting its journey from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and heading towards the Bahamas, while during the cruise, the people on board will be entertained by the New Kids on the Block with special performances.
In the video interview, MacIntyre said that the band’s manager did not think of the cruise concert as a step back for the group, while Jordan Knight wanted to let fans know that he would be celebrating his birthday during the cruise dates, on May 17.
Tickets for the cruise went on sale on Wednesday, January 14.
New Kids on the Block rode the waves back in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a boy band that managed to sell 80 million records throughout the world.
Assembled in Boston in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr, the group won two American Music Awards in 1990 for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group and Favorite Pop/Rock Album.
In 1994, the band split and they only reunited last year, after over the years, all attempts to bring the group back together had been to no avail, when they also changed their style along with the release of a new album and a concert tour in the fall of 2008.
