Google launched a new Beta version of its Chrome Web browser, a version which is almost twice faster than its predecessor. It looks like speed is the element most focused on by the Web browsers developers. A few weeks ago Apple launched the Beta version of the Safari and it called it the fastest Web browser out there.
The new Chrome Beta version is "almost twice as fast” when compared to the original beta version according to Google product manager Brian Rakowski, who wrote about the new release in a blog post.
In the exterior design segment, there’s not much difference between the new Beta and the stable version of the Chrome. However, under the hood, the situation is different. The new Beta has some new features including auto-fill, full-page zoom, auto-scroll, and new drag tabs, Google said. Users of the new Chrome Beta will be able to see
two tabs side by side simply by dragging one of them to the side of the screen.
The new features have been available so far on the developer version of the Chrome. However, Google included all the features into the new Beta version of its Web browser.
As for the speed, the new Beta version of the Chrome loads Web pages 25 percent to 35 percent faster than its predecessor, depending on benchmarking.
Chrome is available for free
download, but its currently available only for PC users, not Mac OS X. However; those users are probably already using the new Safari 4 Beta, which turned out to be a hit.
