The long awaited conference where Apple presented their new
laptop line-up has passed and now is the time for everybody to check up the new
products. Despite speculation, Apple hasn’t modified the prices for the MacBook
and MacBook Pro very much, the basic MacBook is now $999, $100 cheaper, a
midlevel MacBook is $1,300 and the MacBook Pro $2,000, the same price the old
one had. Despite the old prices remaining, basically, the same, Apple has made
some interesting changes to its laptops, changes that are noticeable from their
aluminum cases to their trackpad.
The most obvious change is in the appearance of the laptops,
now being displayed in a shiny, new aluminum case. Both the MacBook and MacBook
Pro have a black screen, covered with glass, black keyboard and rounded edges
for a better grip. The new laptops look solid, almost brick-like, but are in
fact very light-weight. It is now clear, the new line of laptops was clearly
inspired from the design of the MacBook Air.
The displays are very bright, in order to manage in every
possible environment, being powered by a very powerful LED. Both laptops offer,
port-wise, Ethernet port, two USB 2 ports and a new smaller display port. The
trackpad the new laptops are equipped with is designed very ingeniously, it has
no buttons and it’s able to distinguish a right click from a left one,
depending on what settings you’re using.
All in all, Apple is in full ascension with their products
targeting people who want something else, devices that are simpler to use but
which are still high-performance. The new laptops look nice and perform well,
are light-weight and are as portable as ever.
