Canadian singer Nelly Furtado is expecting her second baby in five years, Star magazine reported on Valentine’s Day.

Star reported exclusively on Thursday that the Canadian songbird is with child. The daddy is her sound engineer fiancé Demacio Castellon. Nelly welcomed daughter Nevis in 2003, with ex-boyfriend DJ Jasper Gahunia. The couple split in 2005, after five years together.

Last year, the British Columbia-born singer told Blender magazine that she and Gahunia are still close. “We're fully active co-parents and really close friends.”

Star magazine reports that the 29-year-old Furtado wants a bit of discretion for now. Her rep denied pregnancy rumors, yet an unnamed source told the magazine: “She's not very far along yet, so she's trying to keep the pregnancy under wraps.”

Furtado took the music industry by storm in 2006, with the release of her third studio effort “Loose,” an album that went multi-platinum within a year and spawned such hits as “Maneater,” “Promiscuous,” “Say It Right” and “Do It.”

Furtado was queen of the Juno Awards in April 2007, winning in each of the five categories she had been nominated in, including album of the year. “Promiscuous” featuring Timbaland earned her a Grammy Award nomination that year for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

In September 2007, she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. In October 2007, Furtado was nominated for three MTV Europe Music Awards, and she won the Album of the Year award.

Back in July 2006, when little Nevis was only 2 and a half years old, Furtado told Blender magazine that did see herself surrounded by more children. “Maybe in the next five years I'll get married, have more kids. One grandmother had eight kids, the other had 10. If I have that many kids, then I would need a hubby.”
