Two weeks since Chris Brown was arrested for allegedly attacking Rihanna and leaving her seriously injured and unconscious in their car, Grammy Award-winning R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo is weighing in on the situation.

“I wanted to talk to them before I made a comment,” he said about the much-publicized fight between two of his closest friends. “I spoke to Rihanna. She says she's fine. She didn't go into detail about what happened. I understand it's a painful situation; I didn't push.”

Speaking about the leaked photo of Rihanna taken immediately after the attack and showing her early bruises, Ne-Yo said he was shocked and hurt to his heart just like many of Rihanna’s friends and family.

However, he refused to take any sides saying he hadn’t spoken to Chris Brown yet and doesn’t know what exactly happened between the two.

“All I can say is, I'm praying for both of them. They're both in my prayers. I haven't had a chance to talk to Chris yet. I just wanna sit down and talk to that dude and just explain if he doesn't understand: 'That's not something that's excusable, bruh. You have to get a little smarter about whatever it is going on in your relationship. You have to get a little smarter about how you handle certain situations,'” the singer said.

Ne-Yo is among the very few people who won’t condemn Brown for his actions. Brown turned himself in to police during the Grammy Awards show on February 8 and was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats.

While the public at large has turned its back on the 19-year-old R&B singer, Rihanna, who should be keeping the farthest away from him, seems to still be his friend at the moment. According to sources, the two kept in touch, texting and calling each other, despite his violent treatment and her family’s pleas to stay away. Moreover, reconciliation might be in the works.

On Friday, Rihanna put on a brave face as she gathered with several close friends to celebrate her 21st birthday. And while her Brown didn’t make it on the guest list, he still called her to wish her a happy birthday and even sent a present.
