British-born supermodel Naomi Campbell is off the hook in the assault case brought against her by one of her former maids, who alleged that the catwalker struck her with a mobile phone, verbally abused her and accused her of stealing a pair of jeans.
Romanian Gary Gibson, who worked as a housekeeper for Campbell from November 2005 through January 2006, sued the British model in late 2006, claiming she was assaulted by Campbell when she couldn’t find a pair of jeans she wanted to wear, according to the New York Post.
Gibson also accused the supermodel of being a "violent super-bigot" who made fun of her broken English, called her a "bad Romanian" and yelled "You are not in the Third World anymore, stupid!"
The case has now been settled amicably, although details are to remain confidential.
“I think everybody is happy this is over,” Campbell’s lawyer, David Breitbart, said.
The settlement marks the end of one of Campbell’s many legal troubles she brought upon herself by throwing tantrums and assaulting anyone who annoyed her even a bit.
In 2000, she pleaded guilty to attacking her personal assistant Georgina Galanis, who told a Canadian court the model hit her with a phone and threatened to throw her out of a moving car in Toronto two years earlier. Campbell agreed to take an "anger management" course after the incident.
In 2003, personal assistant Simone Craig sued the supermodel, accusing her of holding her hostage in a hotel and throwing a phone at her.
In August 2004, police in New York recorded an allegation by Campbell's housekeeper Millicent Burton that she had been punched and scratched during an argument over packing a suitcase.
