CNN Headline News anchor Nancy Grace welcomed twins John David and Lucy Elizabeth Sunday, two months before she was due.
Nancy Grace, the 48-year-old host of legal affairs talk show “Nancy Grace” on CNN Headline News, gave birth to a boy, John David, and a girl, Lucy Elizabeth, on Sunday, Oct. 4, CNN spokeswoman Janine Iamunno told the Associated Press.
John David weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounce, and Lucy Elizabeth weighed 2 pounds, 15 ounces at birth. Grace, 48, had developed pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs) and doctors found it advisable to induce labor earlier, for her health as well as for her children’s.
A rep for Grace told People.com: “Her physician determined it would be best for Nancy, and for the twins, to deliver them [on Sunday]. Lucy Elizabeth, John David, and their proud parents are now resting comfortably.”
Iamunno confirmed the good condition of both Grace and the babies Monday, telling the AP that mother and newborn children are well.
Grace's husband, David Linch, is an Atlanta investment banker. He and Grace have been married since April.
“The babies are doing fine. Our little girl is doing just as well as her brother despite her weight – and mom is doing great,” Linch told People.
The proud mom and dad reportedly named John David for his father and John the Revelator, while Lucy Elizabeth is named after Grace's mother Elizabeth and grandmother Lucy, Grace’s rep said.
Grace, a former prosecutor with the Fulton County District Attorney's office, plans to return to hosting her CNN show as soon as possible, Iamunno told the AP.
