Nancy Grace Expected To Be Released From Hospital

The Headline News anchor’s condition improved after she was hospitalized on Sunday due to complications after giving birth prematurely to twins earlier this month.

According to People magazine, Nancy Grace is "doing pretty doggone good," her husband David Linch said, adding that medication "has had a dramatic impact" on Grace's condition.

After she delivered the babies on November 4, doctors discovered fluid in her lungs but she recovered and went home. On Sunday though, Grace began having trouble breathing on her way to church so her husband rushed her to an Atlanta emergency room where doctors discovered two blood clots in her lungs which occurred as a result of the pregnancy, her spokeswoman Janine Iamunno said at the time.

"She is breathing effortlessly now," Linch said. "The swelling around her legs and feet have pretty much gone away." However, the 48-year-old host will likely stay on medication "for a couple of months to make sure everything is okay and prevent any other clots."

Linch also had good news to report about his newborn children.

"John David has gone from being fed via a tube to primarily being fed by a bottle and today is the first day they're going to try to give Lucy Elizabeth a bottle. Her weight is going up and she's doing quite well," Linch said. "They're out of the critical area and have stabilized pretty well."

Blood clots are a danger to any pregnant woman, but especially older women.

"Twenty percent of women that die as a complication of pregnancy is directly related to blood clots," said Dr. Lauren F. Streicher, a professor of obstetrics/gynecology at Northwestern University.

Grace gave birth to twins John David and Lucy Elizabeth two months ahead of her January due date, but both were said to be doing well after birth.

"Lucy Elizabeth and John David both lost weight at first, but now they are gaining. She is feisty and he is laid back—we even have to wake John David up to make him eat," Grace said in a posting on cnn.com Sunday.

"They both smile all the time…I know in my heart they would not be doing this well without your love and prayers, please keep praying!"
