Motley Crue Proudly Announces Crue Fest 2008

Heavy metal band Motley Crue proudly announced Tuesday the launch of the first-ever Crue Fest, which will feature all four original members of the band as well as friend musicians Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Sixx:A.M. and Trapt.

The four original members of Motley Crue, singer Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx, guitarist Mick Mars and drummer Tommy Lee, are back together and have big plans.

They are releasing the first studio album with this line-up in more than a decade and launching a special summer tour in support of the forthcoming “Saints of Los Angeles,” reports Billboard.com.

Crue Fest, produced by Live Nation, will kick off July 1 at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Fla., and visit 41 U.S. and Canadian cities, ending Aug. 31 at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh.

The band revealed their big plans Tuesday, April 15, during a press conference in Los Angeles. They said Crue Fest 2008 would also feature rock acts Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Trapt and Crue bassist Nikki Sixx’s side band Sixx:A.M.

“Saints of Los Angeles” will be released June 17 via Motley Records. This is Motley Crue’s first studio album since “New Tattoo,” released in 2000. The last studio effort to feature all original members was 1997’s “Generation Swine.”

Motley Crue reunited in 2004; their most recent tour in 2005/2006 grossed $46.3 million and drew more than 960,000 people to 125 concerts, according to Billboard Boxscore. In 2006, the band toured with Aerosmith.

An enthusiastic Lee told the Associated Press about the festival, “We’ve been wanting to do this forever. And we’re finally doing it.”

As tot eh years that have passed since they first formed the band, Lee added that the members, known for their wild ways, have quieted down. “The second we hit the stage, everything is exactly the same,” Lee said. “But when the house lights go up these days, everybody leaves and goes back to their hotel room or bus or airplane or whatever. It's different now. People have families and kids.”

Tickets for Crue Fest will go on sale immediately through TheRockvine.com, adds Billboard. They will also be available through LiveNation.com beginning Friday, April 18. As Live Nation has a deal with Citi, the company’s card members can purchase pre-sale tickets today through Friday via privatepass.citi.com.
