Mother-of-Two Britney Spears Loses Visitation Rights

Dazed and confused pop singer Britney Spears makes headlines yet again, this time by losing her visitation rights with her two toddler sons for not complying with court orders.

It would seem Britney Spears either failed to take court-ordered drug tests or attend court-ordered parenting classes or else tested positive for drug ingestion or perhaps she skipped joint counseling sessions with former husband Kevin Federline.

These are all orders from Los Angeles County Commissioner Scott Gordon, to be followed through until Oct. 26, when the next court hearing is scheduled. Britney was allegedly doing her part and even received modified visitation rights last week, which allowed her to have sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, sleep over.

The situation has changed however, as court papers showed Thursday that Commissioner Gordon suspended the singer’s visitation rights altogether until Britney complies with all of the court’s orders.

“Petitioner's (Britney's) visitation with the minor children is suspended pending Petitioner's compliance with the court orders,” the order said, reports Reuters.

This comes one day after Britney and Federline’s lawyers were summoned for a quick hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, as E! Online reported. Neither attorney revealed what the 1-hour closed-door session consisted of.

Shortly after Britney and K-Fed’s divorce became official this summer, with the two parents sharing joint physical and legal custody of their sons, the former back-up dancer filed for sole custody, hinting that the children would be safer with him.

Commissioner Gordon eventually stripped Britney of her custody rights, ordering that the two boys live with their father. The troubled singer was ordered to undergo random drug testing, attend coaching on parental skills and counseling.

Gordon said there was evidence in the custody case that showed the 25-year-old mother was a “habitual, frequent and continuous” drug and alcohol abuser. Britney was merely allowed supervised visitation rights.

Gordon’s decision to allow overnight visits with her children was accompanied by the following explanation: “Time with dad and mom is extremely important. At the same time, if a person is dealing with challenges - substance issues and emotional issues - this can absolutely affect the children and have a devastating effect.”

Britney has been especially generous with the paparazzi over the last year, supplying them with over-sufficient fodder for tabloids. People in her entourage have been quoted as saying that Britney sees this exposure as a way of remaining relevant… “Far from sight, far from mind” seems to be a frightening thought for the pop singer.

A comeback album titled “Blackout” will be released earlier than planned, via Jive Records, on October 30.
