After being involved in a serious car accident last weekend, Morgan Freeman is divorcing his wife of 24 years, according to media reports.

According to the actor’s lawyer and business partner, Bill Luckett, Freeman and costume designer Myrna Colley-Lee “are involved in a divorce action.” He told Access Hollywood, “For legal and practical purposes, [Morgan and Myrna] have been separated since December of 2007.”

The “Million Dollar Baby” actor had previously denied the breakup, telling the media that he wasn’t familiar with the divorce rumors.

Freeman’s attorney refused to provide details regarding the divorce. No further comments have come from Morgan Freeman’s camp.

The 71-year-old actor met Myrna when she was working in an off-Broadway theatre production in 1976 and tied the knot in 1984. They have two children together.

The Hollywood veteran previously said “I do” to Jeanette Bradshaw, with whom he had two children before they split up in 1979. The couple also adopted a baby and raised Bradshaw’s child from a former relationship.

The Academy Award-winning American actor and film director is currently in stable condition in a Memphis hospital recovering from surgery to his left arm after he had a car accident on Sunday night. While driving, his vehicle left the road and overturned quite a few times before falling in a ditch.

"Morgan is doing well after his surgery to reconnect nerves and repair damage in his left arm and hand. He is visiting with family this morning,” a spokesperson for Freeman said. “As of this morning he's up and walking around and looking forward to his release as soon as possible," he added.
