Netflix announced yesterday that its movie streaming service turned out to be a major success in the three months since its release, with more than one million Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console users using the online feature.
The company mentioned that the Xbox users watched more than 1.5 billion minutes of movies and TV episodes through the Watch Instantly service.
The partnership between the two allows the subscribers of Xbox Live and Netflix to access via their video game consoles the 12,000 streamed movies and TV shows from Netflix's "Watch Instantly" library, making the entire renting process significantly easier.
Xbox users complained about the company’s latest update, which was supposed to fix some HDMI-related issues. Instead of addressing the bugs, the update caused the consoles to become inoperable. Many users demanded explanations for the irritating matter, and Microsoft released this response: “We are always taking steps to ensure our customers have the best experience on Xbox 360 and we have a detailed and comprehensive test and acceptance plan for our software updates to the console. If you are having any problems, please visit support.xbox.com so that we can assist you.”
Netflix became extremely popular with its initiative to rent DVDs by mail, which was received with great enthusiasm by many movie fans. The company recently decided to enter the online business and it appears to have been a very good decision. Its huge movie archive is not fully available online at this point, but the plan is to bring its full content to the Watch Instantly service in the near future.
