Metal Gear fans can now relax. After rumors have spread on
the internet that the last chapter, ‘Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the patriots,’
is the last game in the franchise, Ryan Payton, associate producer of the game,
has declared in an interview with MTV Multiplayer that there will be future
Metal Gear games.
Metal Gear IV, which will be released on June 12, will be
the last game in the Solid Snake saga. The game’s creator, Hideo Kojima, has
managed to find a way to give it a nice finish, and answer all the questions
the series’ fans had.
Payton said that Kojima has felt uncomfortable with the idea
of continuing the Solid Snake saga and wanted to move on. He also stated that
even though the creator has made similar announcements before, this time he
really means it.
The last chapter of the saga brings a big surprise. The
‘Assassin’s Creed’ costume will be present in the game. The story behind this
reaches back to last year when Kojima and Jade Raymond, Assassin’s Creed producer, met
at the E3 conference. The two were admirers of each other’s work and decided to
start a collaboration. Soon after, they managed to convince the two rival
companies for which they work, Ubisoft and Konami, to introduce the costume in
the game.
Metal Gear IV: Guns of the patriots will be released for
PlayStation 3. A release for Xbox 360 is not likely to take place, mostly
because of the computing power the game currently needs, which only the PS3
console can provide.
