More Details About “World Of Warcraft”, The Movie

About a year ago the gamers were announced that one of their favourite games would become the subject of inspiration for a movie. As the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) has always been a very popular one, its creators are now looking forward to hitting another success with “World of Warcraft”, the movie.

Blizzard Entertainment has used the occasion of this year’s BlizzCon convention for making public some details about one of the most awaited for recent movies. Although these details have been scarce, they are important.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Paul Sams and Chris Metzen have repeated once again their desire of not creating “another video game movie”, but “to create an epic”. The fact that the famous game of “Warcraft” has still remained very popular since its release from 1994 has pressured the movie’s creators to be careful in their work. As the game counts today about nine million players and fans worldwide, they must really realize a good movie for not disappointing so many people.

Chris Metzen has tempered the fans’ concerns over a Nerfed fantasy movie and he has promised them that “World of Warcraft” will not be a G or PG version of the game. He has also said that the story within the movie will be told from the Alliance perspective.

"Honestly, the story that we're running with at this point, we wanted it to be relevant to the experience of WoW players," Metzen said. "Not necessarily buried in thousands of years of continuity. We wanted it to be, well, recent. The story takes place about a year before WoW begins. You're likely to see a lot of races you've played, the lands you know. The story really is a number of main plot points kind of rolled into a really strong two, two and a half hour tale.

Although no director hasn’t been mentioned, Blizzard Entertainment’s men has added  that “World of Warcraft” will be a live action movie, although they haven’t yet decided how much CGI will be involved.

As Kotaku has reported, Chris Metzen has confirmed that the movie is still “in the scripting process”.

Although nothing is quite sure, everybody hopes that movie will hit the screens in 2009.
