More than a year after the conclusion of the first season, “Damages” makes an incredible return to the little screens with more impenitently intricate and knotty episodes, picking up on the twists where the initial part left off.
In season one of the FX drama, callous litigator Patty Hewes amassed billions of dollars for workers of business tycoon Arthur Frobisher. In addition, she attempted to have her protegee, Ellen Parsons, murdered, because she was afraid that Ellen would betray her. However, Patty did not succeed to carry out her plan and now Ellen will try to take vengeance by secretly wearing a wire for the FBI, at the same time as their law firm hires another precarious challenger.
The new season of “Damages,” which premieres on FX on Wednesday night at 10, raises the stakes considerably and even the characters bring into play more serious matters.
Glenn Close was awarded with an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance as Patty in this multifarious, critically acclaimed series. Therefore, Rose Byrne, as well as her fictional persona, Ellen, has to put herself out to do better than her go-getting guide. Ted Danson bolsters his line of business as the slippery Frobisher, while Glenn Close’s “Big Chill” co-star William Hurt joins the cast as Daniel Purcell, a mystifying appearance from Patty’s past whose delicate misfortune starts the ball rolling on the new case.
