A couple of days ago,
Michael Moore’s most recent documentary called “Slacker Uprising” was released
on the Internet as a free download.
“Slacker
Uprising,” which is the first major film to be made available to fans in this
unexpected manner, describes Moore’s 62-city tour of the country
before the 2004 presidential elections. Over a period of five weeks, the
director tried to convince as many young Americans as he could to register to
vote. Taking aim at the Republican Party and, implicitly, at their 2004
presidential nominee George W. Bush, whom he has long criticised, Michael Moore
promised youngsters ramen noodles and „fresh underwear” in exchange for
their registration. Consequently, the aforementioned political group attempted
to stop Moore through legal action.
The 97-minute documentary, whose production cost is estimated
at approximately $2 million, is available for download at http://www.slackeruprising.com.
The
filmmaker stated he chose the Internet over the traditional theatre as the place
to release his movie because he wanted to offer his fans a gift on the
celebration of his twentieth year in the film-making business.
Moore also revealed that “Slacker Uprising” was thought as an early tribute
to young voters who are to save the United States from another four years under Republican
rule.
On November
4, 2008, U.S. citizens are going to elect their
next president and vice-president. Barack Obama, junior United States
Senator from Illinois, is the Democratic Party’s nominee for the presidential elections,
running against senior United States Senator from Arizona John McCain,
who has been nominated to candidate by the Republican Party.
