Victoria Beckham is probably one of the most famous women in
the world, but when it comes to fashion it seems like she has no taste.
The pop diva, also known as Posh Spice, leads the annual
list of worst dressed stars compiled by fashion critic Richard Blackwell.
During 2007, Victoria Beckham, once Victoria Adams, the
poshy one in the Spice Girls, has had a busy life. She had moved to America with
her soccer star husband David Beckham, who has a new team, LA Galaxy. She
bought the family a house, she was busy with her designing passion and she’s on
TV, like it or not.
Also, she had a reunion tour with her former group, Spice
Girls, who broke up in 2000 after merely six years of “girl power”, but its
seems that nothing could save her from Blackwell’s acid judgment.
"Forget the fashion spice, wearing a skirt would
suffice! In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty posh can really
wreck-em," he said in a statement.
In fact, it is not the first time when Mr. Blackwell slaps
the Posh Spice’s lack of fashion taste. In 1998 he listed the Spice Girls as
number one in his list, deriding the group as "the only spices on the
planet that have no taste."
The irony is that in a interview given last year for the
December’s issue of Elle magazine, Victoria Beckham admitted she might not be
the best singer or dancer in the world.
"It became very obvious from the start [of my career]
that I was never going to be the best singer or the best dancer or the best
actress," she confessed. "I was never a 'natural.' You know, I've
never been that good at anything, to be completely honest." Well, maybe
she should add fashion to the list of her inabilities!
The 48th list of worst-dressed women also included British
singer Amy Winehouse and actress Mary-Kate Olsen.
Mr. Blackwell had only “good words” about Amy Winehouse,
describing her as "exploding beehives above, tacky polka-dots below. She's
part 50s car-hop horror."
As for Mary-Kate Olsen, Mr. Blackwell said she "resembles
a tattered toothpick trapped in a hurricane." Singers Fergie, Kelly
Clarkson, Jessica Simpson and Avril Lavigne and actresses Eva Green and Lindsay
Lohan and comedienne and former child star Alison Arngrim rounded out the top
10 worst dressed.
Blackwell excluded perpetual favourite Britney Spears from
the list, saying I felt that it was inappropriate at this time to make comment,
when her personal life is in such upheaval. I hope 2008 is a better year for
her." Last year, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton have topped Mr. Blackwell’s
“worst dressed” list.
He listed Reese Witherspoon, Jemima Khan, Beyonce, Angelina
Jolie, Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman, Katie Holmes, Kate Middleton, Katherine
Heigl and Cate Blanchett as well-dressed women.
