Stealing from the rich, giving to
the poor: this was Robin Hood’s old-fashioned motto. Nowadays, Bonnie and Clyde’s story seems to have become more interesting to modern thieves, as stealing in order to visit Paris
sounds more romantic than giving the money to the poor.
However, thieves’ problem is that
they all become very greedy and they never know where and when to stop. This is
also the case of Jocelyn Kirsch, 22, and boyfriend Edward Anderton,
25. The young couple stole about $100,000 this year alone and spent
the money on trips to Paris, London
and even to Hawaii,
as well as on other luxury perks.
Kirsch and Anderton could really be called a
modern day Bonnie and Clyde-like couple; they
robbed and stole from rich people for enjoying every bit of their lives; they stole
even their neighbors’ identities in order to pay for their lavish lifestyle!
However, on December 5, 2007,
Jocelyn Kirsch, a student at Drexel University, and Edward Anderton, a University of Pennsylvania
graduate, were forced to stop this adventure and they surrendered to police. After
living a whole year on the edge, the young couple now faces identity theft, theft, burglary
charges and not only. During a search of the couple’s $3000-a-month apartment,
police found $17,500 in cash, fake driver’s licenses, dozens of credit cards, keys
and all kind of other tools.
Unfortunately for the two
strong-hearted lovers, their adventure is really over. According to a defense
attorney, they are now hoping to negotiate a plea deal and turn their lives around.
But until a sentence is decided, Jocelyn and Edward’s adventure will be the
newspapers’ hot topic for a while.
