Misty May-Treanor Goes Under The Knife, Kim Wants Back

Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Misty May-Treanor suffered an injury on Friday while she was rehearsing the Lindy Hop with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy on the ballroom set of the popular TV show “Dancing With the Stars” and underwent a surgery Tuesday morning to repair her torn Achilles tendon. She had to drop out of the competition, and prepare for a long break at home.

Her rep gave an official statement concerning the state of the Olympian."Misty had a successful surgery on her ruptured Achilles this morning. She is currently at home recovering. He husband Matt is with her," she says.

Her having to leave the show so early was especially sad, considering hers and her partner’s high scores, an average 21 points out of 30 for their previous foxtrot, mambo and paso double routines, which landed them near the top of the pack each week. “I ruptured my Achilles tendon and from that point on I knew I couldn’t continue. I’m out and I’m really bummed. We don’t know why these things happen. They could happen to anyone. I feel like I was only just beginning here.”

She made an appearance on the show on Monday, with a cast on her left leg that went almost up to her knee, which made it clear for everyone that the volleyball wonder will not be caught dancing, at least not this season.

In the same interview for People, she talks about the nine months of rehabilitation, with no dancing and no playing volleyball.“I will be back – on the volleyball court and maybe on the ballroom. I would come back to the ballroom if they asked me back.” She also says that this particular period of having time off could be a happy coincidence, as she and her professional baseball player husband Matt Treanor were planning to start a family, but just couldn’t find the time. Nine months seem like a perfect time for a new Treanor to make an appearance.

Meanwhile, the world’s eyes are watching that empty place among the contestants of “DWTS” and rumor is that Kim Kardashian is the most probable to fill in the now vacant seat, although the jury hasn’t been sweet on her performance, and neither was the public.

She and her partner Mark Ballas were eliminated last week, but we could see it coming for a while now. Kim was at first in tears and really sad to go, but she later reportedly claimed that she would never come back, her sister Khloe Kardashian says in an interview for People. “She’s actually relieved because the judges were really harsh on her.”

But the reality TV diva seems to have changed her mind, due to Misty’s early leave and said during an interview Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show that she would actually go back to the show anytime, just to prove herself and those jurors also.

“I would totally go back if they asked me. I’m not a performer and I would have loved that chance to at least have one breakthrough dance where the judges gave me a positive score and some positive feedback.”
