All hope has faded Tuesday night for those involved in the search of the 7-year-old Utah girl. Police found her traumatized body in a neighboring apartment within the South Parc Townhomes complex.
The girl, Hser Nay Moo, went missing Monday near 2250 S. 500 East when she left her home after an argument with her 10-year-old brother. Police found her corpse at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.
In the mean time, five men were taken into custody as suspect in the little girl’s homicide according to South Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Snyder. Four of them were detained at the apartment and one in a separate location. None were booked into the Salt Lake County jail.
The names of the five suspects were not released and police wouldn’t say whether they were connected to the family of the girl or not.
"Those five are currently in custody right now and back at the police department where they will be conducting interviews with them," Snyder said.
Moo was found dead in the bathtub of a nearby apartment situated in the South Parc apartment complex.
"Once inside the apartment, they observed some evidence that led them to the bathroom of the apartment where they discovered the body of Hser Nay Moo," Chief Snyder said during the news conference about the FBI agents who helped police search for the girl.
Investigators concluded that the girl died after suffering from some sort trauma, but they wouldn’t give additional details.
"I will say there is some trauma present and that's all I'm going to say," said Snyder.
Police searched all the buildings surrounding Moo’s apartment, but the one where they finally found her body was the last one searched. Hundreds of locals joined the search operation of the little girl whose family had come to the U.S. from Burma in the summer.
