Microsoft unveiled the beta version of which enables users to explore the added features and capabilities in its Exchange Server suite. The new version of the Microsoft server will most likely ship this year in the second half.
The new server version produced by the software giant will allow users to opt-out of an irrelevant email group thread and provide voice-to-text transcription capability. This basically translates into the ability to inbox voice messages. The new Exchange Server 2010 Beta will also feature ‘MailTips,’ which will come with a set of warnings that can be configured and will warn users before sending emails.
After a long period during which Microsoft didn’t say anything about its productivity line of products, the software giant final started to give some information about the subject. Microsoft said it will not open Office 2010 beta testing to the general public. Instead, it will limit the preview to a group of users that will have access via invitation. The preview will reportedly involve “thousands of users,” according to a company spokesperson. When asked whether Microsoft would post a beta version of Office 2010 to its site for everybody to download and check out, the spokesperson said that “at this point there is no plan.” This is certainly a shift from the company’s strategy regarding this issue. For Office 2007, Microsoft offered two beta versions, one in March 2006, the second in September.
The company spokesperson also confirmed the fact that Microsoft will release two separate versions of Office 2010. One of them will be destined for 32-bit operating systems, the other offering applications written specifically for 64-bit.
