Microsoft Weeps As Mozilla Gains Market Share

The launch of Firefox 3.0 was more than expected, and Microsoft now has to watch how its rival gains more market share each week. Firefox 3.0 managed to reach 20 million downloads in the past week, and things get better and better for Mozilla Corp.

One week after Mozilla made the highly anticipated launch of the Firefox 3.0, the browser has already been downloaded 20 million times.

That’s not the only thing that worked perfectly for Mozilla Corp. however, as they watched their market share go up.

Net Application Inc.’s executive vice president of marketing Vince Vizzaccaro said in a statement earlier this week that Mozilla’s market share went up 0.76% compared to May.

Unfortunately for Microsoft, we can’t say the same thing about them, as their market share, although still strong, had decreased by 0.8%.

This leaves enough room for Mozilla’s Firefox to reach an even higher market share, which some analysts believe to reach 30 percent.

However, Vizzaccaro warned that we shouldn’t get our expectations too high for now, saying that although Firefox might be going up, not all figures are that accurate.

All in all, Firefox did manage to get the attention it wanted and needed, by breaking its 24 hours download Guinness record.

Mozilla promised an unprecedented experience with the Firefox 3.0 browser, and it delivered, as promised, improved performance, better stability, less CPU usage, improved protection against data leaks and malware.

It seems that people have been curious about the Firefox browser even before its official launch, as the market share figures of the Beta version have shown.

The official launch took place on June 17, when in just 14 hours after the launch, the number of downloads reached a staggering 5 million.

There’s no doubt about it, the new software came with a lot of new features and capabilities that revitalized Firefox’s market share.
Microsoft seems to be losing ground at a steady rate, as Firefox wins over more and more fans.

By offering users a more personal browser, with an “awesome bar” that fits their needs, easy to use and fast, Mozilla has definitely accomplished a lot in the past week.
