Microsoft Teams Up With ESPN For Xbox Live

Slowly, but surely Microsoft continues to build up its video content empire on Xbox Live service. The Redmond giant has signed a deal with ESPN to bring full-lengths games and TV shows on Xbox Live Marketplace.

The sport fans on Xbox Live will be able to purchase complete NCAA basketball and football games, the X Games sports competitions and programs like ESPN's "Madden Nation," which chronicles a competition of "Madden NFL" video game players,

Among the offerings available for purchase are also Summer X Games 13 and episodes of such ESPN shows as "World Series of Poker," "The Contender" and "Madden Nation."

According to media reports, ESPN TV shows will cost $2 for standard-definition and $3 for high-def versions, while the NCAA games will be sold for $3, and high-definition versions for $4.50. The financial terms of the deal weren’t revealed.

So far, Apple’s iTunes was the only digital store to sell content from ESPN.

Earlier this year, Microsoft has signed an agreement with The Walt Disney Studios to bring feature films Studios to U.S. members of Xbox Live.

Last November the Redmond company had dived into the profitable video-on-demand business with movies and TV shows from CBS, Paramount, Disney, Fox, MTV and Warner.

According to Microsoft, Xbox Live has close to 7 million members and is currently offering more than 2,350 hours of premium entertainment content from 15 partners.
