Next week, the annual Consumer Electronics Show is scheduled to take place at the Venetian in Las Vegas. In other years, the event used to be highly anticipated, but for now, there really isn’t anything to be all that excited about.
Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer, is expected to present the company’s Windows 7, Vista’s succesor, which will officially enter its public beta testing period. Also, he will present the development of Flash support for Windows Mobile, the two new Halo titles for the xBox and the new home networking feature, enabling multiple computers in a user’s house to find eachother and share files.
Windows 7 is still in development, as the company is looking to get everything right this time, and not leave any aspects out. The pressure is big, as the users’ response to Vista was not at all what the officials had hoped for.
There are several reports presented on different Web sites, by users claiming to have the new Windows 7. Even though these versions are far from complete, the general belief is that Microsoft is on the right track, as the users appear pleased with their new operating system. Many of the bugs in Vista are no longer present and it appears to work extremely well for games.
Microsoft will not officially release beta copies of Windows 7 until its MSDN developers' conference scheduled for later this month. A final version of the OS is expected sometime later 2009 or even early 2010.
