Microsoft Is On The Right Track

Microsoft let everyone know just how well it has been doing. According to company officials, up to this point, 180 million copies of Windows Vista have been sold and it seems that more and more people are beginning to show interest in the software.

As found in the company’s records, Vista sold 20 million copies in its first month; after one hundred days, sales reached 40 million units and when six months had passed, the meter was showing 60 million. The software seems to be showing a constant evolution, as the number of users giving up on their XP operating systems is quickly increasing.

However, as Windows 7 could be out as early as 2009, there are a lot of business customers that have decided to keep XP until that happens. A lot of users who had tested Vista complained about a wide range of issues. Last month, the company issued a white paper in an attempt to persuade the reticent to give Vista a shot. According to Microsoft Vice President of Product Management, Mike Nash, those who skip Vista would be "missing out on the proven benefits such as better security, productivity, search, mobility, manageability, and infrastructure optimization."

During the last twelve months, Microsoft has recorded sales of about $60 billion, with a profit of more than $17 billion. When comparing these results to those recorded in the previous fiscal year, the numbers show an 18% revenue increase. If things continue in the same manner, the company has a very good chance to meet its goal of seeing its software installed on more than 200 million PCs.
