Heath Ledger’s former fiancée and mother of his child, actress Michelle Williams, returned to New York after the late actor’s funeral and celebration of his life.

After taking some time out to grieve the tragic and sudden passing of Heath Ledger, the actress, who had been shooting the film “Mammoth,” was spotted Monday in SoHo outside the nature store Evolution, where the film is currently shooting.  

Production on another of Williams’ movies, “Blue Valentine” which was scheduled to start shooting on February 25, was also halted due to the recent turn of events. The flick’s moviemakers said they would hold off in respect to her.

Over the weekend, Williams joined mourners at Ledger’s funeral in Perth where over 500 people celebrated his life by stripping off their clothes and diving into the ocean. The service was held at the exclusive Penrhos College in Perth where Heath used to come when he was a child to watch his older sister, Kate performing in school plays.

The memorial service was followed by a private funeral at Fremantle Cemetery attended by 10 people, including Heath’s parents and Williams. There Heath’s cremated remains were laid to rest in eternal peace.

Then mourners gathered at a restaurant overlooking Perth’s Cottesloe beach, one of Heath’s favorite spots, for a sunset wake, before diving in the waves.

“After a while Michelle Williams came down and went swimming in her dress. Security guards were waiting for her with a towel when she emerged.  Everyone in the water started slapping the water and shouting, ‘Heath,’ in kind of mass relief that the stress of the occasion was behind them.”
