Michael Phelps To Turn “Saturday Night Live” To Gold

“Golden Boy” jumps directly from the pool and onto the “Saturday Night Live” stage.

Michael Phelps, the star of the Beijing Olympic Games can’t stay out of the public eye for too long. His swimming skills did not pass unnoticed, but will he be able to make us laugh?

His acting talent will nevertheless be put to the test when he hosts the upcoming season premiere of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” on September 13, along with musical guest Lil Wayne.

The show will mark the opening of the 34th season of the much popular sketch comedy, which has enjoyed great success when athletes such as football quarterback Peyton Manning or basketball player LeBron James have hosted.

NBC seems very interested in the “Golden Boy’s” success. Michael Phelps will also be a guest on NBC’s “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on September 8, while the network obtained the broadcast rights to next year’s World Swimming Championship, in which Phelps will obviously compete.

The 23-year-old champ has won 14 career Olympic gold medals, the most by any Olympian so far and, as of this month, he also holds seven world records in swimming.

Michael Phelps holds the record for the most gold medals won at a single Olympics with the eight decorations he received at this year’s Olympic Games. With this record, he outdid fellow swimmer Mark Spitz, who had held the previous record with seven gold medals obtained at the 1972 Olympic Games.
