Controversial moviemaker Michael Moore is once again under media focus for his remarks regarding Hurricane Gustav, which he called a "proof that God exists."

In spite of its very destructive nature, displacing thousands of people, destroying their homes and further devastating an already severely damaged region, Hurricane Gustavo has in Michael Moore's vision a positive side: it might disrupt next week's Republican National Convention, which John McCain is already considering to postpone.

While a guest on MSNBC's Keith Olbermann's show, Moore, who was reminded of Bush Administration's difficulties in handling the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, jokingly said, "I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven. To just have it planned at the same time, that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for Day One of the Republican convention, up in the Twin Cities, at the top of the Mississippi River."

"I certainly hope nobody gets hurt," Moore added. People living in New Orleans and the surrounding area have to started to evacuate, while the storm strengthened to a Category 4 hurricane.

Reacting to Moore's remark, a spokesman for McCain called for an apology from the filmmaker.

"I demand an immediate apology from Michael Moore to the people of south Louisiana for his offensive and inappropriate comments," Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Jefferson, said in a statement. "People in Louisiana, regardless of political affiliation, are making plans to leave to protect their families from this serious storm, and the God I know would not share Michael Moore's glee for our plight."
