In “Toy Story 3,” which is said to be released in digital
Disney 3D on June 18, 2010, Michael Keaton will be lending his voice to
Barbie’s one and only true love.
He will be starring opposite Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan
Cusack, Wallace Shawn, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, John Ratzenberger and Jodi
Benson-who will be voicing Barbie and is best known as the voice of Ariel in
the movie “The Little Mermaid.”
This is not the first time the actor appears in a Pixar
production, Keaton having also voiced the “Cars” character Chick Hicks in 2006.
As for the movie itself, little has been revealed: it is
directed by Lee Unkrich, who edited “Toy Story” and both edited and co-directed
“Toy Story 2”, its screenplay was written by Michael Arndt, who has also
written the screenplay for “Little Miss Sunshine” and the treatment by Andrew
Stanton, who also provided the treatment for the movies “Finding Nemo” and
“Wall-E”.
In terms of plot, the synopsis given to The Wall Street
Journal depicts a story revolving around “Woody the cowboy and his toy-box
friends” when they end up being “dumped in a day-care center after their owner,
Andy, leaves for college.”
Moreover, word on the web is that Mr. Potato Head will
definitely have a larger role in this sequel.
So, if in 1989, Michael Keaton was keeping Gotham
city evil-free, fighting bad guys 24/7 as Batman, time has come for him to make
sure that Barbie is suitor-free, fighting for an untarnished love, as Ken.
Maybe what they say about life in plastic is actually true.
