Michael Jackson’s 25th ‘Thriller’ Anniversary

One of the world’s best-selling albums of all time, Michael Jackson’s "Thriller," is to be celebrated by Jackson and his record label, Epic/Legacy Recordings with a second special edition of the record, which will expand considerably with the addition of new, unreleased material.

The celebration will kick off with the release of a new single and carry on throughout the upcoming year with a global marketing campaign featuring high-profile television, radio and online events. The "Thriller: 25th Anniversary Edition" package, which hits stores on February 12,  will include music videos, rare, unreleased songs, eight bonus tracks and DVD extras.

The bonus tracks include a Kanye West remix of "Billie Jean," a new version of "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" featuring Akon and will.i.am, will.i.am remixes of "The Girl Is Mine" and "P.Y.T." plus the unreleased "For All Time," a cut from the original "Thriller" recording sessions, newly mixed and mastered by Michael Jackson.

The DVD will include videos for "Thriller," "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and Jackson's breakout performance of "Billie Jean" from the "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever" television special, first broadcast on May 16, 1983.

Originally released Nov. 30, 1982, the Quincy Jones-produced "Thriller" spent 80 weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard's Top 200 albums chart, and has sold more than 27 million copies in the US alone. The album also won seven Grammy Awards in 1984. In 2001, Legacy issued a remastered version of "Thriller" close to the time Jackson’s last album "Invincible" was released.
