King of Pop Michael Jackson is expected to announce the dates of several comeback concerts on Thursday, in an attempt to join the vast celebrity line-up that is scheduled to hit the stage this year after a lethargic period.
The 50-year-old pop star has lived the life of a near ascetic since his controversial acquittal of child abuse charges during a 2005 trial.
Michael Jackson’s last album that contained fresh material was “Invincible,” which was released in 2001, while the artist’s status as one of pop music’s most important acts has been progressively more outshone by odd conduct, an altered appearance, as well as doubts with regard to his alleged good health condition.
In spite of the fact that organizers of the singer’s tour have not revealed further information regarding the comeback, Billboard magazine reported that Michael Jackson’s Las Vegas-style “residency” at London’s O2 arena, which can host 20,000 people, would start as early as July. According to the publication, the first 10 dates have been booked, while the duration of the run would hinge on demand for tickets.
The King of Pop is expected to attend a press conference on Thursday in order to confirm the concert dates.
However, even before the singer announced his gigs, a lot of buzz emerged with regard to the fact that Michael Jackson is unable to hold a potentially extensive series of concerts.
Michael Jackson is one of the best known musical acts of all time, with an estimated 750 million music albums sold. Moreover, “Thriller,” which was released in 1982, registered the best album sales ever.
