Pop star Michael Jackson reportedly has serious health problems and is in need of a lung transplant, according to claims from his biographer.
Ian Halperin, biographer of Michael Jackson, revealed last week that the King of Pop is battling a genetic disease that has already taken its toll on his health and physical integrity. Halperin says Jackson, 50, is half blind, can “barely speak” and needs an emergency lung transplant. The singer however may be too weak to go through the surgery, as he is also allegedly suffering from emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding.
Halperin told In Touch magazine and Britain’s Sunday Express newspaper the internal hemorrhage is the most concerning of his health issues, as it endangers his life. He said Jackson has had the condition, called Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, for years but it has become increasingly worse.
The writer has penned biographies such as “Love & Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain” and “Stalking Britney: Under Siege with Britney Spears.”
Earlier this year, Michael Jackson was seen in a wheelchair. Back in November, when Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, son of the King of Bahrain, apparent fan and friend of Jackson and amateur songwriter, had filed a breach of contract lawsuit against the singer at London’s High Court, Jackson’s attorney told the court his client would not be able to make the trip to the UK from the US, doctor’s orders.
The attorney said Jackson suffered from an illness, but did not specify what. He was seeking to obtain permission for Jackson to testify via video link from the United States. The artist ultimately announced he would attend a hearing in London’s High Court. The legal teams for the two parties reached a settlement and Jackson was announced of this just as he was about to board a plane.
