If anybody was doubting the fact that Stephenie Meyer has all the chances of becoming the next J.K. Rowling, they really should reconsider this after crowds teenage girls came to attend the release parties of the latest book in the 'Twilight' series. 'Breaking dawn,' as the book is entitled, was released Saturday at midnight, and is the last book in the series that sold about 13 million copies around the world.

Stephenie Meyer previously unveiled a little about what was going to happen in 'Breaking Dawn,' and announced the fans that Bella, the main character of the story, will marry Edward, the handsome vampire, and not Jacob, the werewolf that might have given her a more decent family life. The author also mentioned that the wedding episode will be at the beginning of the novel, and that a lot of interesting things will happen till the end of the story.

Mrs. Meyer, who holds a college degree in English, is also a Mormon. She said that a lot of what she thinks and a lot of the rules that govern her existence, like abstaining from alcohol, have been allegorically put in the novel. The vampire Edward, who retains from drinking human blood, is constantly caught between his sentiments for Bella and his natural impulse of feeding on her.

It seems that this has been the secret of Meyer's success. Back when she sent 'Twilight,' the first book in the series, to editors to see if she can get it into bookstores, she was only an unknown author. Now Meyer's books are published all over the world, and a movie based on the first book in the series will be released this December.

Borders Group announced in a statement that approximately 1,000 Borders and Waldenbooks stores throughout the U.S. and its Borders.com site sold more than a quarter million copies of Stephenie Meyer's "Breaking Dawn" in total on its first day of sales, Saturday, Aug. 2.

It officially went on sale beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and was snapped up by eager fans, hundreds of thousands of whom attended special midnight release parties to get the book the moment it became available. The first-day "Breaking Dawn" sales total is nearly 10 times what the retailer's first-day sales were for "Eclipse," the third book in the series, illustrating the saga's fast-growing popularity.

Borders Group estimates that more than 225,000 fans attended midnight release parties at its Borders and Waldenbooks stores nationwide that lasted until the early morning hours, where fans of Stephenie Meyer and the popular "Twilight" series participated in costume contests, trivia competitions, debates and a host of other fun activities.
