Metallica And Run-DMC To Be Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

According to the New York Times, the rap group Run-DMC together with the rock group Metallica, Jeff Beck, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Bobby Womack and Wanda Jackson in the early-influences category, along with Bill Black, D. J. Fontana and Spooner Oldham as sidemen, will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as it had been announced on Wednesday.

The ceremony will take place for the first time since 1997 in Cleveland and it will be broadcast live on Fuse TV. Some tickets are available for the public and the fans and they will be found on January 24 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame box office in Cleveland and through Ticketmaster starting January 26.

Searching throughout the fresh–to-be inducted bands’ history, the Run-DMC rap group was founded by Joseph "DJ Run" Simmons, Darryl "D.M.C" McDaniels, and Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell in the 1980s. The group formed in Hollis, the Queens borough of New York City, and had an important message to send throughout the hip hop history.

Run-DMC isn’t performing anymore, but the Rolling Stone magazine ranked them number 48 in their list of the greatest musical artists of all time in 2004. Three years later, the group was named Greatest Hip Hop Artist of All Time by VH1. They will be the second hip-hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

One of the other groups soon-to-be-inducted is Metallica, a heavy metal band which was founded in 1981 in Los Angeles. Drummer Lars Ulrich founded the band by posting an advertisement in a newspaper. Later on, the band consisted of Ulrich, James Hetfield as the guitarist and vocalist and Kirk Hammett, the lead guitarist. Now, the main role of the band is held by Robert Trujillo.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the museum placed on the shores of Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio. It had been founded to record the history of some of the best-known and influential artists and producers from the music industry and especially the ones who had something important to say in the history of rock and roll.

The museum is also a part of the redeveloped North Coast Harbor.

Many artists are inducted into the Hall of Fame every year through a special ceremony, which has been always held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. Chuck Berry, James Brown, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Fats Domino, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley formed the group which was firstly inducted into the Hall of Fame on January 23, 1986.

Nowadays, the main condition for a group to be a part of the museum is to have at least 25 years since the release of their first record. The so-called contestants have to have demonstrable influence in the music industry and there are four categories in which to be inducted: Performers, Non-Performers, Early Influences, and since 2000, Sidemen.
