The North American International Auto Show is about to kick in, but if Daimler AG’s most recent introduction of the redesigned luxury sedan representative - the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class - might get your hopes up to get a glimpse of it in Detroit, that is not going to happen.
The carmaker left out some important details, such as pricing, on the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but during its presentation, which took place yesterday in Detroit, it did confirm its availability for North America as of this summer.
Even if the general public will not get to see it in Detroit, the automaker is most likely to put it on display in the Geneva auto show and the New York auto show, both taking place this spring.
According to the company, the car will be available in two versions initially, the E350 and E550, with the E63 AMG performance version coming up at a later date.
In the eve of the Detroit auto show, Mercedes-Benz also revealed a new electric concept car, the Concept BlueZero, which comes in three variants: the BlueZero E-Cell, with battery-electric drive that offers a range of up to 200 kilometers; the BlueZero F-Cell with fuel cell, that offers a range of up to 200 kilometers; and the BlueZero E-Cell Plus, with electric drive and additional internal combustion engine as power generator, that is capable of offering ranges up to 100 kilometers based on the electric drive alone.
The models reflect the company’s desire to cut down on car emissions, and they give drivers three alternatives, very differently built from conventional electric cars, for the best mobility and efficiency.
