After the remake of the famous soap opera “Beverly Hills: 90210” the CW and CBS Paramount Network have their minds set on the remake of another famous and beloved soap, Melrose Place.
The remake of 90210 has proven to be quite successful and because of this a spinoff after Melrose Place may hit TV screens in the 2009-2010 season. Unfortunately the original creator of Melrose Place, Darren Star, is not believed to be involved in the project, the network focusing more on bringing new faces and talents to prove their worth. Momentarily there is no plot outlined for the future Melrose Place spinoff and unfortunately for die-hard fans, the information regarding the upcoming show are very scarce.
Melrose Place continued the Beverly Hills: 90210 franchise and rocked TV ratings from 1992 to 1999. Darren Star is the creator of the franchise and the mastermind behind the rollercoaster like plots, fascinating and complex characters and the intricate relations which fascinated people during the series. The story of Melrose Place lies in a small apartment courtyard complex set in Los Angeles. Because of the relatively small set, the audience could focus more on the characters and their stories, rather than on anything else.
Both Beverly Hills: 90210 and Melrose Place are regarded as one of the most beloved soap operas that ran on public television. These set a new standard on how human drama can be exploited for artistic benefits and for the purpose of entertainment. Based on the success of the Beverly Hills spinoff there is no reason to think that Melrose Place won’t get the same kind of reaction from the public.
