Good news for all the female fans of Mel Gibson out there. The famous actor’s wife of 28 years, Robyn Gibson, has filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.  

 

Mrs. soon-to-be ex-Gibson is seeking a slice of the actor’s money as well as property earned by the now 53-year-old actor during his successful career. Considering the fact that the pair did not sign a prenuptial contract, Robyn could get half of the actor’s reported $640 million under the Californian law. 

 

Just hours after Robyn Gibson filed the divorce papers, Mel Gibson did it to, TMZ reported. A statement on behalf of the couple was released by Mel Gibson’s publicist, Alan Neirob. The statement wrote: "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so."

 

Although they have been married for the past 28 years, Mel Gibson said they were actually separated for the past three years. 

 

There were no details in the Los Angeles Superior Court papers about how the couple plans to split their fortune. It’s certain that Robyn Gibson wants jewelry, earning, assets, support payments and her lawyer’s fee. She also seeks the custody of their youngest son Tom, aged 10. 

 

Mel Gibson tried to keep a low profile after his film ‘The Passion of the Christ,’ but he didn’t do a very good job of it. In 2006 he was arrested for DUI after leaving a Malibu bar. He was quite angry when police arrested him and claimed “I f***ing own Malibu.”
