Surprises don’t stop to appear for singer Mel B.’s fans. All of a sudden the former Spice Girl appears to have secretly married her boyfriend about two months ago.

The mysterious boyfriend’s name is Stephen Belafonte and he is a film producer. At first it was the famous gossip blogger Perez Hilton who has reported that the singer and her boyfriend got married on the 6th of June.

He and Melanie Brown knew each other for years before they have started to get romantically involved one to another, Mel B’s spokeswoman said.

"He was a really good friend and good support to me during my pregnancy," Brown said of her new hubby during a recent interview with People magazine. "He's a really sweet guy."

"Melanie Brown confirmed today that she and long-term friend Stephen Belafonte were married at the Special Memory Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas on Wednesday June 6 2007.” she said in a statement.

Another wedding is planned for this year, the spokeswoman added.  "The couple, who are both 32, had wanted to keep the ceremony out of the public eye as they planned a more formal wedding for friends and family later in the year”.

According to Reverend Marie Stapleton, who officiated the marriage they paid $59 on Belafonte’s Visa card. “They made no big deal of it. I don't think she had a wedding dress.” Stappleton said.

For Mel B this is the second marriage. She married dancer Jimmy Gulzar, the father of her eight-year-old daughter Phoenix Chi, in 1998. They divorced two years later.

Mel B., who is also known as Scary Spice, is due to reunite with the British pop group, the Spice Girls in December on a world tour.

Melanie Brown, 32 years old, has started to date her film producer since her break-up from comedian Eddie Murphy last year. She even confessed some time ago that she would like to marry him. So she seems to have kept her promise.

Meanwhile, Mel B is involved in a legal and media battle with Eddie Murphy, after he   acknowledges paternity of the child Angel Iris.

A statement released by Murphy’s publicist on Friday said: “Eddie Murphy always has and will continue to honour his responsibilities as a father”. "He acknowledges paternity of the child Angel and has paid child support to Ms. Brown, as well as covering the expenses of her pregnancy," he added.

But this is not enough for Mel B. She wants the 46-year-old actor “see his child, spend time with her, hold her, love her and bond”. Angel Iris, who was born on April 3, is Brown’s second and Murphy’s sixth child.
