John McCain is not giving up on the battle for Presidency, and neither is Barack Obama. The latter bought air time on three major TV stations, trying to reach as many people as possible before November 5th.
He has also had the support of many celebrities, who have even dedicated videos to him, like comedienne Sarah Silverman. Even Angelina Jolie, who was reluctant to take a stand on the matter, finally confessed that she was leaning towards Obama.
In an attempt to regain popularity, Sarah Palin went on Saturday Night Live to meet her double, Tina Fey, who has done a fantastic job impersonating Palin. However, their meeting was brief and didn’t involve much talking. The “backstage” scenes were also quite bland, Alec Baldwin and Mark Wahlberg barely managing to salvage a dire situation with a few entertaining scenes.
Because of the SNL fiasco pulled by his running mate, John McCain decided to take matters into his own hands and went on the show himself. He had a 5 minute bit, co-starring with none-other than Tina Fey, impersonating Sarah Palin once more.
McCain was considerably funnier and more natural than Palin, which humanized him more and gained him a bit of his popularity back. Although he made fun of himself and of a few of his bad decisions, Tina Fey managed to make him look better by making Palin look worse. McCain jokes that this is the only air time he could afford, while looking sideways at “Palin’s” clothes (which in reality cost the campaign over $100,000), but the reality of the matter is that the Republican campaign was highly expensive and with little result. The Democrat campaign, on the other side, seemed more extravagant but at least Obama had a notable popularity spike.
John McCain entertained the nation for 5 minutes, proving that he does acknowledge his mistakes, especially by making a reference to his “Fine Gold” Act, but is it enough to get him the Oval Office or is it too little, too late?
