Actor Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, his girlfriend
of two years, welcomed their first child Monday night, a baby boy,
McConaughey’s rep confirmed to People.com.

Camila Alves, at 6:22 p.m. in Los
Angeles.
The newborn weighs 7 lbs., 4 oz. A friend of the couple’s told People they are “so happy.”
Matthew McConaughey announced he was a father-to-be in January,
when he posted a message on his website for the world to see: “Got some blessed
news ... a celebration of life and bounty ... a newborn concieved (sic) ...
yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together, it's 3 months growin in
her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far.”
The enthusiastic McConaughey continued to say that he and his
Brazilian model girlfriend were “stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation
and this gift from God” and asked fans to wish them the best.
Nierob told the Associated Press at the time that
McConaughey was “euphoric” about the news of becoming a father.
The 38-year-old actor and the 24-year-old model have been together
for more than a year and a half.
Back in 2005, Matthew McConaughey confessed to Oprah Winfrey,
while on her show, that having children was very much something he envisioned
in his future. He said he had “always dreamed of having children,” even going
as far as wishing for “14 or two.”
Ever the humorous man, he added, “But I do believe my mate
will have something to say about that.”
