Los Angeles - Roger Mason Jr, came to the rescue again, and the San Antonio Spurs' continued their home-court mastery over the Golden State Warriors.

Mason Jr. hit the go-ahead jumper with 23.8 seconds left, and the Spurs held on to beat the pesky Warriors for the 22nd straight time at home, 107-106 on Tuesday night.

"They had nothing to lose," said Mason after finishing with 24 points, and his fourth-game winning shot of the season. "They gave us a run for our money, but we were desperate, we needed the game."

Frenchman Tony Parker had 30 points with 10 assists, while Tim Duncan added 13 of his 21 points in the final quarter and grabbed 10 boards for San Antonio (46-24), which dropped out of the top spot in the Southwest Division on Sunday following last minute losses to powerhouses Boston and Houston.

However, with the Utah Jazz beating the Rockets, 99-86 in the final game of the night, the Spurs regained the top spot in the highly-competitive division

San Antonio trailed by one after Duncan coughed up the ball on consecutive possessions - the last coming on Stephen Jackson's steal - leading to Kelenna Azubuike's breakout layup with 30 seconds remaining.

Enter Mason. With Duncan setting a screen, he dribbled from left to right behind the free throw line. When Warriors' Ronny Turiaf failed to switch, the sharpshooter nailed the wide-open jumper.

"Coach drew it up in a timeout," Mason explained. "Tim came off a screen and our first look was to Tony (Parker). But he gave me a great pass, I had some daylight and I was able to make it."

Golden State still had two chances to end the 12-year drought in the Alamo City, and post its first-ever win at the AT&T Centre.

Monta Ellis dribbled down the clock before launching a 23-footer from the right wing over Parker that bounced off the rim with 5.5 seconds remaining.

The Warriors were given a second shot at the win when Kurt Thomas missed both free throws. Jackson grabbed the rebound, but instead of calling a timeout, he raced the ball up-court and spotted Ellis, whose 28-foot, three-point runner, clanked off the front of the iron at the final buzzer.

"It was good," Ellis said. "I brought it up and let it go."

Ellis scored 27 points, Jackson had 18 and Azabuike finished with 13 for Golden State (25-46), which has lost 17 of its last 19 road games.

Elsewhere Utah Jazz 99, Houston Rockets 86 Deron Williams had 19 points with 12 assists, Ronnie Brewer scored 12 of his 17 in the second half and the Jazz knocked the Rockets out of first place in the Southwest Division.

Carlos Boozer had 13 points and eight boards for Utah (44-26), which posted its 13th consecutive home win to pull within one-half game of idle Denver for the top spot in the Northwest Division.

Aaron Brooks scored 20 points, while China's Yao Ming had 14 with 13 rebounds for Houston (47-26), which had won its previous four games.

LA Lakers 107, Oklahoma City Thunder 89 Kobe Bryant scored 19 points before sitting out the final quarter, Lamar Odom added 18 and the Lakers cruised past the Thunder to kick off a grueling seven-game road trip.

Spanish star Pau Gasol had 14 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists for the Lakers (56-14), who moved within one-game of idle Cleveland for the NBA's top record.

Kevin Durant scored 24 points to lead Oklahoma City (20-51), which has dropped nine in a row to the Western Conference leaders.

Chicago Bulls 99, Detroit Pistons 91 Kirk Hinrich, filling in for rookie point guard Derrick Rose (bruised right wrist) scored 24 points, Tyrus Thomas had 18 with 12 rebounds, and the charging Bulls moved one-game of the seventh-place Pistons in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Tayshaun Prince and Will Bynum scored 20 points apiece for visiting Detroit (34-36), losers in five of its last six contests without injured stars Richard Hamilton (groin) Rasheed Wallace (calf) and Allen Iverson (back).
