R&B drama queen, Mary J. Blige comes back this year with
her eighth studio album, “Growing Pains,” in which she talks about different
feelings from finding a peace of mind and keeping it through fighting with lover
and self-determination.
Mary J. Blige hired a quality team of producers for this
album which it isn’t any fairy tale.
The first single from the album is her second single she
will release, “Work That,” a song in which Blige is celebrating the individual,
saying that you have to work with what you have and work for everything you
earn. She sings: "Follow me follow me follow me/ Be yourself."
For “Grown Woman” she got some help from Ludacris, in an
anthem for women in which she shows how a woman can be desirable even if she
shows less skin.
“Just Fine” is her current single where she sends a message
of being a strong and independent person, singing: "Keep your head up
high/ In yourself believe.” The song is now at No. 7 on Billboard's Hot R&B
Songs, according to associatedcontent.com.
For “Stay Down” and “Roses” she teamed-up with Christopher
(Tricky) Stewart and The-Dream, who are behind Rihanna’s hit “Umbrella,” the
New York Times informs.
In “Roses” Mary shows us that not everything is easy in
love. She sings about wanting to be alone and needing her man.
For “Shake Down” she is joined by Usher, creating an up-beat
song. In “Talk to Me” Mary left her voice unaltered, saying that she loves good
mistakes.
In “Smoke”, she lets the beat down for a soft song about
letting go to somebody. This could be a song that many could relate to, people
who have lost someone or just had a bad relationship.
"Take one more look/ Past my celebrity/ That's where
you'll find the real me/ To you do I still look complete?" Mary sings in
“Work in Progress (Growing Pains)."
“Come to Me” is a song about a second chance in a
relationship and has a little influence of rock in it.
“Growing Pains” is about life and the struggles that
everybody faces, and the way one should overcome them.
We’ll have to see if this album can create new hits from the
R&B drama queen and if it will reach the same level of “The Breakthrough”
2005.
