He was married to former Miss USA Ali Landry for 2 weeks in 2004 and now allegedly expects a baby from his former girlfriend Karina Smirnoff. He met professional dancer Karina Smirnoff while competing in the third season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

Mario Lopez told People that he was chubby while a boy. He also opened up to the magazine about the traits he looks for in a girlfriend. Apparently, Lopez likes women from a modest background, as he is, because he claims he's still a "very down-home kind of guy." Lopez said his favorite date spot is a karaoke in Koreatown in L.A.

The actor rose to fame after his portrayal of the character A.C. Slater on Saved by the Bell. The five-year run of the show got him a solid teen girl fan base. Since then, he appeared in many television shows and hosted several primetime television pageants. He is still close friends with Saved by the Bell co-star Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who is married for twelve years and has two children.
