It’s been three years since Mariah Carey’s previous album “The Emancipation of Mimi,” reestablished her as one of the music industry’s greatest artists; it went multi-platinum and earned three Grammys but will she be able to repeat the formula this time around?
The name of Mariah Carey’s new album is “E=MC2” and it will be released on April 15. The first single is “Touch My Body,” flowing from radio outlets across the world this week. The song, written with C. “Tricky” Stewart and The-Dream, debuted Tuesday on New York radio station Z100.
Mariah’s album gathers names like Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will.I.Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate “Danjahandz” Hills and James Poyser. “E=MC2” is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio “LA” Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group, her official website informs.
Other tracks that are expected to appear on the album include “Migrate,” ”Love Story,” “Lovin’ You Long Time” and “OOC.”
Mariah Carey first announced her new album on TRL in October, when she also promoted her fragrance, “M by Mariah Carey.” She explained then that the creative process behind the perfume was quite similar to making music.
“I wanted [the fragrance] to be sensual... It's really been like writing a song... This was almost the same creative process.”
We can probably expect some more sensuousness from Mariah once the video for “Touch My Body” is released; directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner, the singer promises on her website that internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead.
